BLM Fundraiser
What?
I am offering to take portraits of anyone that wishes to donate money toward the BLM movement. I will take pictures of you, your family, you with your friends (as the recent opening of San Mateo County now allows for gatherings), or simply put, any type of pictures you wish to have. 100% of the money that is made through these portrait sessions will be donated to the organizations listed below. This way, you are given high-quality portraits while at the same time are helping people as they fight for their fair treatment.
Why?
Everyone has seen the news and has a basic understanding of the massive movement occurring throughout the world, a movement that is long overdue and is beyond necessary in order to produce reforms to the overtly broken system that runs and operates freely in America. The recent killing of George Floyd is only a drop in the bucket of abuses and injustice toward the black community, and in general, for any person whose skin isn't white. The protests and outrage that have been brought to the forefront of news outlets everywhere are not only warranted but should be backed by any individual that understands the debilitating effect that racism has on the ability of people of color to gain an equal opportunity for a successful and full life.
The disproportionate killings, unequal access to basic necessities, and the general mistreatment of black people within America is something that has been churning endlessly for a change. I stand with all and every black person seeking equal treatment among the systemically racist society that America has manufactured through years of racist laws, regulations, and basic human prejudice.
As a white person myself, I completely acknowledge the inherent privilege that I was born with. Dismissing the idea that you have privilege only exacerbates any and all problems of inequality within our society. I recognize that I am given opportunities that others are not because of the color of my skin, as much as I wish that such an idea would never exist in the first place. I hear although I will never understand, the pain of any black person. This movement has inspired me to become a better and more thoughtful person, and I will fight as heavily as I can to promote equality and the destruction of racism within America and the world. As such, this charity drive is my attempt to promote change and help assist black people in their fight for the abolition of systemic racism.
